Four award-winning journalists at the top of their game will tell all on our first JournoFest panel.

JournoFest brings together News Associates and The School of Journalism trainees for a day-long festival of high-profile speakers and special guests from the media industry – and our tenth event in March will be our biggest yet!

Sitting on our ‘The secret to award-winning journalism’ panel are Daily Mirror assistant editor Darren Lewis, Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh, The Sun chief Sunday reporter Scarlet Howes and MailOnline reporter Eirian Prosser.

Darren Lewis began his career as a trainee news reporter on the Enfield Gazette and then moved into sports reporting.

In January 2000, he was hired as a football writer by the Daily Mirror where he is now an assistant editor and columnist.

He is also a familiar face to television viewers as a co-presenter on Sky Sports News and TalkSPORT, and a senior sports analyst with CNN.

Lewis is president of the Sports Journalists’ Association and has been shortlisted for Tabloid Columnist in this year’s British Press Awards.

Ranvir Singh has fronted several ITV primetime shows, including the most watched factual title on ITV in 2022, Ghislaine, Prince Andrew & the Paedophile and the successful series, Eat, Shop, Save, where Singh and her team of experts help families to eat and save their way to household happiness.

She’s also presented shows such as All Around Britain with Alex Beresford, and presented ITV’s Real Stories, telling unique stories of people who have experienced life-changing events.

After finishing her NCTJ training with a gold-standard diploma, Scarlett Howes landed a job as a trainee reporter on the Ham and High Express.

From there she moved to news agency reporting roles with SWNS and Ferrari Press.

In 2018, she was hired by the Sunday Mirror, where she was nominated for New Reporter of the Year at the British Journalism Awards.

She moved to The Sun via The Mail on Sunday, and at last year’s Society of Editors’ Awards won Investigation of the Year and was named Journalist of the Year for a series of agenda-setting scoops, including the Huw Edwards scandal.

Eirian Prosser’s first taste of journalism came from work experience at Good Morning Britain and ITN when she was at university.

Her first full-time journalism job was a general news reporter at the Oxford Mail, specialising in local politics.

She joined The Mail’s training scheme, and for the past three years has been at MailOnline.

The London Press Club judges praised her ‘utterly fearless attitude and dogged determination’ and described Prosser as ‘the very definition of a rising star.’

The panel will be chaired by News Associates deputy managing editor Graham Dudman, with plenty of time for questions from our audience of 200 trainees and guests in person, and even more via Zoom.

JournoFest 2025 will take place at The Twickenham Stoop – and be livestreamed – on Saturday March 15 and is exclusively for News Associates and The School of Journalism trainees.

You can follow all the action on Instagram @NewsAssociates.

The Twickenham Stoop has been home to the Harlequins since 1963 when they acquired the ground, initially as a training pitch. It was named in memory of Adrian Stoop who played for Harlequins 182 times over 38 years and was president of the club for 29 years.
